This original pair of 1957 Oldsmobile vent window posts began the restoration process by being electro-stripped to their original copper base and glass bead blasted to create a clean foundation for refinishing.
The posts were carefully metal finished using a combination of grinding, block sanding, and detail sanding to remove waves, old plating, and surface imperfections. Special attention was given to the intricate contours and tight corners to ensure every visible surface was properly refined.
Once the surfaces were prepared, the posts were copper plated and inspected. With no blistering or defects present, they were sanded, polished, and buffed to a mirror finish. This final polishing stage allowed for a thorough inspection before plating.
The posts then received nickel and chrome plating, followed by a final quality control inspection. The result is a flawless, show-quality finish that restores the original appearance while providing the durability and brilliance expected from premium chrome plating.
