Restoring a 2013 Crimson Division L-4 CES Tailpiece

When our customer brought us the tailpiece from his 2013 Crimson Division L-4 CES, the goal was simple: restore the original piece to the level of quality expected from a guitar of this caliber.
The L-4 CES is a particularly special instrument, featuring a mahogany back and rims that were confirmed by Gibson after our customer imported the guitar from Japan. With the guitar itself being such a unique find, attention to detail was essential when restoring its hardware.
At Advanced Plating, we restored and re-plated the tailpiece and insert, carefully bringing the components back to a clean, refined finish while preserving the character and integrity of the original parts. The result is hardware that looks right at home on this exceptional guitar.
Stephen was kind enough to share his thoughts after receiving the completed pieces:
“Hello Jeremy, here’s another impeccable replated tailpiece from you! This is my 2013 Crimson Division L-4 CES Mahogany that I recently imported from Japan. The dealer couldn’t confirm it had a mahogany back and rims, but after Gibson confirmed that for me, I went for it on eBay. Thank you for the perfection!”
Projects like this are a great example of why restoration work requires more than simply refinishing a part!
