After the Autorama

The Detroit Autorama is a crazy event. It is an event that is not only tons of fun, but has everyone going from the crack of dawn to the late late night.

JF Launier’s 1964 Buick Riviera took home this years Ridler award and it featured a number of items chrome plated by Advanced Plating.

It seems like no matter what tactics we try to employ, we always end the weekend up there thinking “wish I would have time for…” While this year was no exception and we could easily come up with a list of things that could end that sentence, there was one thing we wanted to do before the show became a distant memory…we wanted to recognize some of our customers who brought a car to the show.

John and Phyllis Sadler’s 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air was another Great Eight finalist that featured chrome plated parts by Advanced Plating.

As you all know from the previous post, we were involved with five out of the eight finalist for the Ridler award this year, which made the show a great success for us. However, as the weekend wound down it was brought to our attention that John and Phyllis Sadler’s 1957 Chevrolet also had some chrome plating on it that was done by Advanced Plating. It was hard to recognize at first, but once we heard their story about how one place plated some of the parts and then they had us finish up the job (due to issues with previous plating company), we were able to put two and two together. So if five wasn’t already a success, six of the eight was definitely something to be happy about.

We first saw Legacy Innovation's 1958 Corvette when it made its debut at the SEMA show this past November. If it had been shown for the first time at Detroit, there is a good chance it could have been a Great Eight contender. The car is absolutely gorgeous!

The amazing cars that customers brought to the show didn’t stop with the Great Eight. In fact, it seemed like every time we turned around we were coming across another great car that had had work done by Advanced Plating. Not to mention, if we weren’t discovering a car that had our plating, we were usually running into one of our customers. A lot of our customers we have only had correspondence with over the phone, so it is always nice to finally put a face with the name. Plus, nothing beats when a customer comes up to the booth and proudly shows us pictures of a car they just recently completed that we were a part of. It really makes the job extra special to be part of helping someone create a dream.

As always the Detroit Autorama was a blast and we love being part of that event year after year. For those of you who could not make it, here is a quick look at some of our customers cars that were at the show. Enjoy.
